Un-coated shower glass versus glass coated with Diamon-Fusion.

Don’t let the worry of cleaning and maintenance
keep you from a beautiful clear glass shower.

The Problem

To the naked eye, glass looks like a solid smooth surface, but at a microscopic level it’s a harsh terrain of ridges and valleys. Without glass coating, the harmful materials that hit the glass get hung up on the ridges and sink into the valleys. Water dries leaving foreign materials not just on the surface of the glass, but within the surface of the glass.

The Solution

Glass coating serves two purposes. First, it causes the water to bead up and roll off the glass. When the water spends less time on the glass it has less opportunity to leave contaminants behind. Second, it fills in the hills and valleys so dirt and residue never actually touch the glass. You’re cleaning the coating, not the glass, and it was designed to be easy to clean.

Our Partnership with Diamon-Fusion

We knew when we started our plant that we wanted to select Diamon-Fusion coating for the frameless glass showers we fabricate. We were sold on their 2-part system, their superior warranty, and their excellent customer service.

When the Fuse Cube Express was created for small-batch glass coating, it was perfect for us and we bought the first one. Today we are the only plant in the Pacific Northwest to apply any coating by machine. Machine application means glass is coated perfectly every time, and as an added benefit, both sides are coated.

Enjoy this Diamon-Fusion video about the application process filmed in our plant with our employees!

Care & Maintenance for Coated Glass

We like to compare glass coating to the coating on a non-stick pan; glass will be easier to clean, but you do still need to clean it.
How to clean your shower glass:

  1. The first stage of the cleaning process is to squeegee after every shower. Dirt and residue is brought to the glass in water droplets. When you wipe away the droplets, you’re wiping away the contaminants. An alternative is to dry the shower after each use with a towel or soft cloth.

  2. The second stage of the cleaning process is to wash the glass about once a month, or every-other week. We recommend using a mild dishwashing soap like Dawn or Palmolive, and a nylon body pouf. Start by wetting the glass, then place a small dot of dish soap on the nylon body pouf and wipe it on the glass in a circular motion. You’ll be able to feel the debris coming loose and when the surface is clean the pouf will move smoothly along the surface. After cleaning, rinse with clean water, then squeegee that water away.

  3. (Optional) If life gets in the way of your cleaning regimen and the first 2 stages of the cleaning process are not working, all is not lost. Diamon-Fusion has created an Express Care Kit (part# ECK) containing their own proprietary Restoration Powder and Revitalizer. The Restoration Powder is a heavy duty granular cleaner that breaks through multiple layers of deposits on the coating. Once the shower is clean again, the Revitalizer tops off the protective layer of coating. This kit is not something that every homeowner will need, but if you do, it can be purchased from the Diamon-Fusion website, or from our showroom in Oregon City.
